Having a recording of the story read aloud by both a male and female native Japanese speaker would be the luxurious icing on the cake. Would it be easier for you if the text would be recorded audio and someone else add the furigana? I usually get the reading from http://nihongo.j-talk.com/ and then correct it with the add of the native audio. The mp3 would also be useful as a listening practice and speaking practice (shadowing).
